Turn off Standard Control Group actions

Control Group functionality is turned on and off in Opportunitites. When Control Groups are turned on anyone in the control group for a specific Rule will get a default value. This is set in the RIS. In most cases this will mean the they will get a lesser experience.

This is by design as the Control Groups are designed to measure whether the optimal decisions provide by the Rule is better than the default.

In some cases you may want to provide a different decision or send an email where normally one would not be sent.

This may be due to to the requirement for a transactional email to be sent out I.e a conversion is in an initiative with Control Groups but the thank you email should always be sent. Another strong use case is where the switch to provide better offers for those in the control group is used

In Templates where Control Groups control the output you can adjust the actions taken. The default is “Honour existing Control Group behavior”. This will continue with the existing functionality. Those in the Control Group will get the standard Default value.

Default

Choose to ignire Control Group restrictions

The alternative value “Allow this Tile to ignore the control Group restrictions” - in essence turns off the restrictions and those in the Control Group would get the optimal decision unless something is done to adjust.

Is Control Public Template

The Control Group functionality is designed to compare the optimal result provided to those outside the Control Group with the lesser default experience of those in the Control Group.

We need to maintain this difference to allow our metrics to maintain thier credibility. Use the Is Control Switch to push those in the Control Group down a different path. They can now receive the values you choose.
