Updated Functionality

Home

The Home screen now contains a view of the number of Global Parameters that have been created and provides an easy click through to the Global Parameters screen.

Templates

Show new Templates on first creation

On the creation of a Template the Templates screen will scroll to highlight the newly loaded Template in the list allowing you to continue to work on it.

Content Management and Data Capture Icons

A new Content Management and Data Capture section has been created within the Icons screen and new icons created to support it.

Rule Groups

When you open a Rule Group you now see the Rules within the Rule Group or all the Rules available so new ones can be added. Choose “Selected” at the top to see only the Rules within the Rule Group. “All” shows all the Rules available. You can also choose a Target to select from. This is useful as Rule Groups now only support Rules from the same Target.

In this same screen you can now access and edit the Data Grids and Parameters from the Rules you have selected. This makes keeping the values consistent across the Rules within a Rule Group much easier.

Rule Designer

Creation of a Switch case from a Single Field

You can now create a Switch Case from any field in the flow of the Rule. Simply click on the Plus icon against the Tile in Rule Designer. As well as the existing ability to “Select Template or Connect Tile” you now get the ability to “Create Switch Case From Field”.

Select a Field to create the switch case from. This will automatically create a Tile called Switch Case (Fieldname). This can now be edited to add the Switch values and allow you to choose a Default.

Improved Rule Validation

Rule Validation occurs each time a change is made to the Rule in Rule Designer. With more complicated Tiles this could take some time and previously this process limited further changes to the Rule while this took place. This process will now fire the validation and wait for the result whilst still allowing the user to continue using Rule Designer. If several significant changes are made in quick succession it may take a bit of time for the up to date validation to come through. In most scenarios this change will significantly improve the user experience.

DDE

Plugins

Throttle Plugin

The Resource Name in the Throttle Plugin is now parameterizable.

The “In Memory” option has been removed from the Throttle Plugin and the Access Cache Plugin.

Sequential Plugin

Due to the clustered nature of the DDE cache it is not possible to use standard Kettle functionality to create a sequential series of numbers. The Sequential Plugin step can be used to ensure that the next value in a sequence is correctly allocated and reserved for the instance of the rule.

The Sequential Plugin has a Min and Max range for the Counter Value. Currently any value that comes through outside of the requested range errors and flows into the Error step. From a Template designers perspective this means that true errors with the step and Out of Range errors were treated the same and could not be separated.

We have added to the Output Fields section. By Default the “Send To Error Output when Range exceeded“ tick-box is selected. This provided the existing functionality as highlighted above.

When this is deselected you are able to select and create an Error Code Field specifically for Out of Range errors. This value can be used (perhaps with a Filter Rows step) to treat the Out of Range errors differently in the Template.

Fixes

DEV-2427
