Journey Orchestration
Updated Functionality
Rule Designer
Switch Cases now allow the user to use a “contains” lookup
Switch Cases previously worked on an exact match. You can now select “Match where field contains the value” to match with a contains lookup. That is where the value contains the value entered in the step.
Auto-Enhance - ability to set a Key in all modes
To enable users to create new Auto-Enhance processes from scratch we have updated the Auto-Enhance options. As well as selecting a Name (Table) you can now select a Key. Both of these can be set by static values, fields or via parameters.
the Key can now be set in all three Modes, Select Variables, Attempts and Successes. Simply add the tiles as appropriate to your rules and keep the Name and Key consistent between all the tiles linked to this specific Auto-Enhance.
Global Parameters
Setting Blank Global Parameters
Previously Global Parameters setup in the UI could not be blank. This could be useful, for example in Test and Dev you pass through a value where in Production it should be empty. To cater for this, we have added the ability to have blank global parameters.
Journey Analytics
Updated Functionality
Right Align Journey Visualisation
The Sankey diagram used for Journey Visualisation can now be right aligned to allow analysts to view the last interactions of Customers and the interactions leading up to those events.

Plugins
Alterian Multi-Armed Bandit Processor
The Multi-Armed Bandit Processor has been designed to work automatically, calculating the “Winning” option automatically and passing in new variants to test the winning option against.
Users may want more information on the decisions the Multi-Armed Bandit is making, or you may want to limit extra field in the Rule flow. The Multi-Armed Bandit Processor now has a “Reporting Fields” check box. By default, the extra fields are not created. check the box to automatically add all of them to the Rule Flow
Public Templates
Engagement Score
Our customers wanted to understand how engaged a specific user is with their brand. Engagement Score provides this, allowing our users to generate a score that continuously changes through interactions with Journey Orchestration Rules and the passage of time. This functionality is provided through three new Public Templates, that Set, Update and Read the values.
We have also added an Engagement Score decay function. This will gradually reduce the engagement scores generated by older events with the oldest events decaying the most. This decay function is automatic but should mean that those users that are more active “right now” generally have higher scores than those active weeks, months and years ago. More details in the Engagement Score Public Templates help.
Fixes
DEV-2782 | We now validate on the Name (Table) used in the Multi-Armed bandit and will error if the format is incorrect. |
DEV-1252 | Previously Process Future Event tables did not show in the Cache report. They and the interactions with them are now shown. |
DEV-308 | The count of parameters available in the summary tile in Templates, Rules and the Rule Designer screen included options that were hidden from the user. These are now filtered out and the counts will reflect what the user can see. |
Further Changes
Kettle
The version of Kettle downloaded from Alterian now contains a “Check for Updates” option under the DDE tab. When clicked this will compare the current plugins the user has locally with the latest released plugins provided by Alterian. If upgraded plugins are available the user is able to download a zip of the plugins to a folder of their choosing. The Plugins can then be installed in the standard manner.
